Welcome 2011....

Posted by Kimberley on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, In : Reflection

It’s that time of year when we begin to look back, reflect and analysis the year as it begins to come to its end. We ask; where did this year go? What have I done this year? But maybe the questions we should be asking are: Have a made a difference this year? What have I learnt this year and how can I grow next year?

We do the same every New Years Eve and promise the next year will be different. However unlike millions of you out there, I never want this year to end. I stand proud and tell ...

Our Deepest Fear

Posted by Kimberley on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, In : Inspirational
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually who are we not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people
won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do.
We were born to make manifest

Cheese and I....

Posted by Kimberley on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, In : Cheese

Would you believe 5 years ago I hated cheese? Well believe it or not it’s true. However thanks to the side effects of the contraceptive implant cheese is now my biggest weakness. I have no choice but to embrace this cheeky temptress and can often be found in the middle of the night chomping on a block of cheddar!

It has to be said, my relationship with cheese it quite an unhealthy one. To put it bluntly – I’m obsessed! If cheese were a man, I’d be locked up and have the key thrown aw...

At what point does Social Media become unsociable??

Posted by Kimberley on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, In : Social Media

My name is Kym Hall I have 511 followers, 301 friends, I have tweeted 5,039 times this year and my most used word is ‘Oh’ according to my status update records. If this is a foreign language to you, congratulations, you have not yet succumb to the trappings of social media. On my morning run last week I was contemplating what my next status update would be. I had spent s...

PITSTOP! From Business Woman to Globe Trotter!

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Reflection

When I booked this trip all the way back in July this year, I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. To be honest, and upon reflection my decision to travel was made flippantly and with very little thought. In July my decision to sell Gemini Directories was made on the Monday and then the idea was to take a long break, however by the Tuesday my trip around the world was booked and paid for. As I said, the decision was made a little hastily, but to this day I wouldn’t change it.

Which is Better? (Short Story)

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Short Story

It had been a long, hot, glorious day, and now it was time for Katie to prepare for late evening meeting.

“Gosh, I wish everyday could be this good” Katie mumbled to herself as she poured a large glass of favorite white wine. Katie sat on the edge of her bed, putting on her make-up and pondered what was going to happen at the meeting tonight. “Will I get what I want? Or will they decide against what I was proposing?”
Before she knew it time had escaped her as usual, “Shit, I’m lat...

India - Part 2

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Travel
After leaving Varanassi I travelled back to the dreaded Delhi, only for the night though. First thing in the morning I took a flight from Delhi down to Cochin or Kochi, depending on your mood. Why the place has two names, I have no idea, but it does!

Landing in Cochin was like being in a completely different country. On my journey to the hotel from the airport I was surrounded by green palm trees, green shrubbery at the side of the roads and semi-orderly traffic. Is this really the same count...

India - Part 1

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Travel
There are many things to be said about India, for example
......spiritual....idyllic.....tranquil......I could do on forever. These are the feelings I expected to experience upon travelling to India. However, I have been debating what to write for a while. I have come to the conclusion to give you an honest, nitty-gritty, truthful review. It’s not going to be nice, but I will try and highlight the best and worst of my experiences I gained in this chaotic country.

Here goes.....

After my 16 ho...

Africa - Part2

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Travel
Upon leaving Zambia and recruiting 5 new members to the group, making our group a lovely 17 girls in total! We head to Botswana. The heat in Botswana is immense, and I understand it’s very difficult for you to comprehend at this moment when you are sitting in England in the freezing cold (sorry to rub it in, but couldn’t resist)!

As we approach the boarder to enter Botswana we have to take a small ferry ride to cross the river. However as with most things in Africa, this is not as simple ...

Africa - Part 1

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Travel
What is my occupation?

My adventure from leaving the comforts of England for the interesting world of Africa….
First Stop…Kenya.

Leaving the airport was just plain awful. Saying my goodbyes, knowing I’m not going to see my friends for the next year is plain and simply…..heartbreaking. I did nothing but blubber all the way through customs, right up until boarding the airplane. Though customs I got the strangest looks from holiday makers with their straw hats on ready to take to their annu...

How do I sell?

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Business
It doesn't matter whether customers come to you, or whether you go to your customer's, the selling process is much the same. Either way there are key steps to successful selling:

Step 1: Prepare
Whatever the circumstances of your sale you need to know as much about your customers or clients as possible. Always do some solid market research to get an idea about the type of business you are going to attract.

If customers come to you, such as in a shop or restaurant, prepare by making sure you are ...

Does advertising work?

Posted by Kimberley on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Business
"We can't do advertising. Advertising sucks. eBay, Google and YouTube don't do it." I hear the so-called 'experts' telling you: 'Advertising is on its way out! It's the new economy! It's all about word-of-mouth!'

So does advertising work? Of course it does. Don't just take my word for it, just look at McDonalds, Coke, Pepsi, but to name a few!

While the experts are preaches that advertising doesn't work, I challenge those 'experts' to find just one high-income-growth company who doesn't adverti...

Should I cut my advertising cost because of the recession?

Posted by Kimberley Hall on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Business
Oh my, the sky is falling and we are in an economic downturn. It’s on the news and it is in the papers. Everywhere I turn we hear of the downward spiral of our economic state. I know what you are thinking; it's time to cut that marketing budget. Signs of recession are all around us. Let's start slashing costs and marketing is the first to go. Makes sense, right? No! Let me explain.
Don't you dare cut your marketing budget. That is one of the first mistakes businesses make during times of ec...

How do I advertise my business?

Posted by Kimberley Hall on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : Business
Do you know how many businesses I come across that have advertised in the same publication for the past 20 years, simply because that is what they've always done, not sure if it is actually working for them?
67% and forever on the increase.
This is just the same as going out there buying a full wardrobe of clothes that don't fit and you are never doing to have any benefit from.

So here are my top three tips to advertising your business and making it work for you, not the other way round!

1. L...
